Baby Angels 18-May-1997

These baby Angels are shown at about a month old. The parents guarded the eggs and once the fry hatched, they moved their offspring around spitting them onto various leaves in the main tank. I then had the dilemma of what to do. Should I leave the fry or remove them from their very caring parents? I decided on the later and siphoned all the small fry into a small 2 foot tank. The Parents were none to pleased and attacked my hand several times. I fed the small fry on newly hatched Brime shrimp which I hatched in a small tub. The small fry are growing very fast and now a month old, they resemble an Angel fish.

The Parents have since spawned twice more. The second batch hatched and survived for about a week in the main aquarium, however the parents couldn't protect them from the various other tank occupants. The third batch has just hatched and the parents are now moving them around the tank. I will leave them again, although it is very sad to see the parents frantically trying to protect their young in vain.
